Gi Review - Jiu Jitsu Ace Apparel Company

I recently met with Hilario Lopez from Jiu Jitsu Ace Apparel Company to check out his new kimono that will soon be available on the market. Unfortunately I didn't get to roll in it but, I did put the top on briefly and got an up close look and feel of the material and workmanship.

As you can see it’s a blue gi with red stitching. The red stitching gives a nice contrast with the blue that really pops out and catches eyes. It’s a single weave 450 gram competition weight. It has a rip stop lapel with EVA rubber inside. As you can see it has embroidered sleeves. The embroidered   logo on the sleeve will be changed to the “Don’t Tread on Me Snake” in production models. The woven tag patch inside the gi will be changed to the design you see in the last pics of the gi top. It will also comes with an assortment woven and embroidered patches for your own placement.

The pants are made from rip stop and have double padded rip stop knees. I really like this feature as the knees feel reall sturdy and you definitely won’t be wearing holes in them for a long time. After seeing this I’ve some to the conclusion that double padded knees should be a standard feature on all gis on the market. It has a diamond shape crotch uses gi material and is triple stitched. Another great feature is the nylon rope pant tie is supported by a 6 loop double system most gi’s that are a dual loop single system.

Overall the gi looks and feels to be made with top quality materials and construction. My movement was unrestricted when I had the top on. However, this was an A2H and I wear an A3 so trying ot on doesn’t really tell me too much.  They will have the modern style formfitting cut. If you’re interested in more information or would like to pre-order this gi contact Hilario Lopez of Jiu-Jitsu Ace Apparel Company at jiujitsuace.com or facebook.com/Jiu-Jitsu-Ace. Pricing is $80 if you preorder and $125 after the initial release.
