FLORIDA MMA vs Georgia MMA in the Ancient City

The Rumble in the Ancient City MMA Event Returns to its home base of downtown St. Augustine on Saturday April 14, 2012 at the Ketterlinus Gymnasium. Doors open at 5:00 pm and fights start at 6:00pm. This event is hosted by Deadgame Fight School, in partnership with the United States Marine Corps. A portion of the proceeds will go to benefit the St. Johns County Parks & Recreation Department to provide scholarships to indigent children & youth. This event promises to host aprox. 15 Mixed Martial Arts matches including 2 Amateur Championship Title Bouts in what has built into a Classic Florida vs. Georgia rivalry.

Current Ancient City Champions Tim Russell (Heavyweight St. Augustine native with 5 wins 0 losses) and Travis Alexander (180 lb Jacksonville Resident with 6 wins 0 losses) will both represent Florida in a quest to retain their Championship Title Belts and undefeated status. Georgia State University students Aaron Strawmier 4-0 will face Russell and Justin Sumter 3-0-1 will face Alexander. Both Sumter and Strawmier have both went unbeaten in prior matches in the Ancient City.

In addition to Florida vs. Georgia the undercard will showcase several more matches in the St. Augustine vs. Palatka feud. This is the 38th event promoted by Josh Rutgers & Deadgame Fight School, the longest running boxing & MMA gym in Jacksonville. This will be a family friendly environment which has in the past been called “St. Augustine’s Best Kept Secret” and housed attendance into the thousands before. Ticket prices start at $20 and can be purchased online at www.rumbleintheancientcity.com. These events can also be seen on “Trauma Television”, which airs in the Duval County area on Comcast Ch. 99 Saturdays at 11:00 am. Current undercard bouts at press time to include athletes from Deadgame Fight School, The Body Shop Boys, Bulldog Boxing, St. Augustine Combat Club, J.D. Training Systems, American Top Team, C.C. Corey Jiu Jitsu, Pak’s Karate Palatka, The Armory, and The Training Yard.
